Inspiring: Freedom To Choose

I graduated from the University of Santa Monica’s Masters in Spiritual Psychology Program in Aug 2005. The education and experience I got was absolutely life altering not only to myself, but also to my closest relationships with family and friends.

USM's full-length documentary, Freedom to Choose, has been chosen to receive the Aloha Accolade Award for Excellence in Filmmaking at the 2009 Honolulu International Film Festival.

The Aloha Accolade Award for Excellence in Filmmaking chooses the very best of several hundreds of films submitted from over 30 countries around the world. Judges choose films demonstrating superior and standout filmmaking.

This compelling documentary illustrates how the tools and skills taught in the Graduate Program at USM can have a positive impact on anyone regardless of situation, circumstance, or environment. Most important, it shows how anyone (/everyone) can learn and grow as a human being, when given the opportunity and tools.

If people whose lives have been the least advantaged, who have found themselves so unable to cope in the world that they ended up shut away from it can gain such benefit in such a short time of exposure, just think what this work could do if offered to our youth. Imagine what it might do for them to have this learning before they are faced with the struggles of life and the tough decisions about what path they will choose.

I am encouraged to consider what this work could do in helping us move towards greater peace in our world for without INNER peace, there can be no OUTER peace.
